Kayaking as a Corporate Team Building Exercise

Kayaking is great personal activity, but it can also be a fun way to get your work colleagues out together for some non-work related fun. I work in Marketing for HotelClub during the day and a few times a year we like to combine marketing strategy sessions with a team building activity, and kayaking offers a perfect blend of teamwork, mild exercise and experiencing the outdoors.

Not everyone is enamoured with paddling but it doesn’t normally evoke strong negative feelings like some other activities. As a rule everyone gets to experience a little adventure (like the advertising manager I had to rescue), a little overboard fun (like our SEO guy above and below), and of course plenty of banter and post-kayaking bragging.

As far as activities go kayaking is a fairly cheap option and provides plenty of opportunity for photos and video. You generally find some new friendships formed as well, which can only help with workplace teamwork. Cheers – FP
