Once again the team from the Blast Project put together another cracking paddling race, this time at Sydney’s own Iron Cove, to the west of the city. Team Fat Paddler were representing with Nat and FP on surfskis, Meg in her sea kayak looking to take out the women’s division, Alan in “The Wasp” hoping his new boat would give him the much sought-after win in the Really Old Men’s Kayak class, and our very own Gelo back from Greece in Burnsie’s sea kayak. We were also joined by regular paddler Ben in his kayak to round out the group.
Much of the day went to script. Meg won her race and took an unassailable lead in the women’s division. Gelo grabbed a third behind Alan who, by mere centimetres, actually beat the man 20 years his senior that had whipped him repeatedly in other races. And as for me? I still came in behind Nat, despite a frantic attempt to catch him after I suffered a disastrous start. Well done Nat, but remember, I’ll get you eventually. đŸ˜‰
All up a brilliant day with paddlers from all over the east coast having a bit of a race, plenty of laughs and some free sausages at the end. Gotta love paddling! Cheers, FP
Hello Sean, almost finished your book! Recommended reading by sister Fiona Morrisson – constantly singing your praises (why is that?) – had a tough few years myself and casually mentioned I would like to try kayak or canoe paddling and she said I had to read it. You know one has to do what Fiona says and I am. Great book! Thanks. Linda
Awesome Linda! I was just chatting to Fiona yesterday as a matter of fact. Has she read it herself??
Great Video Sean
Want to do this series now, but need a ski too, may be able to some of the races if I am off work and in the right place for my Horizon Flyer.
Wow this is cool and enjoying! How can we join that summer series 2012 race 5? I want to try kayaking in other places. I think it is more adventurous in Sydney.
