Team Fat Paddler are all about fun and the lads were ecstatic about locking in a session with Tsunami Rangers Captain Jim Kakuk before he returned to his home in California. No-one knew what to expect but we all duly packed our helmets and took Jim out to some small rock gardens to see what we could find. What ensued was a brilliant few hours of watching, learning and playing! Full write up coming soon, but here’s a little video of our fun on the day. Thanks Kuk, and thanks Sydney Harbour Kayaks for your support on the day!
Cheers!! FP
That looks just plain scary – to say nothing of dangerous!! So glad you all survived!!Ruth (Tame little Yukon River Quest Paddler!!)
Fire it up!
I don’t know about you but I got pretty good skill upgrade.
+1 Dexterity
+5 Experience Points
+10 Courage
A guy at rock n roll asked me how long I’ve been paddling. I said 15 years. He then asked how many extended trips and expeditions I’ve done. I said none. After a session on the rocks he knew why. This is orders of magnitude funner than paddling a long way.
Great time with the Fat Paddler Team, Sydney rocks!–Kuk
You guys were really rippin’ in the rocks! It takes courage to go out there and frolic where currents and waves mingle with reefs, rocks, and cliffs.
Thank you, Fat Paddler and friends, for sponsoring Jim Kakuk in your rock garden class. I’ve known Jim for 40 years, and have learned that he has a calm way of teaching and encouraging that is really special. (Jim taught me how to river kayak many moons ago. And I turned out okay).
Rock on!
dang, I am kicking myself now for not being able to make it to come down to Sydney. Bummer. Would have really loved to hook up with the Master of rock gardens and the famous Fat Paddler. Next time give me a little bit more notice and I will be there.
Clearly, Team FP is having waaaaaay too much fun! Y’all need to reform, heah!
no helmet for mr. kakuk?
great version of Back In Black, who’s it by?
i still don’t get why i’d want to hang around tempting waves to bash me against oyster-encrusted rocks when i could be motoring along somewhere safe, but maybe i ought to try it before i dismiss it entirely. count me in for next time.
The Back in Black mix came off a compilation of AC/DC covers – Die Krupps Mix is what was stated as the artist, search iTunes and you should find it.
Why wouldn’t you want to bounce around in the froth? Everyone who went had to admit it was great fun. You should try it Alan. 🙂
Looks like great fun and an instructive session!
I hope Captain Kuk does not travel by that name if he ever comes to Sweden though!
