Tsunami Rangers - riders on the edge of madness!

Tsunami Rangers - riders on the edge of madness!

There are so many different types of paddling out there, each with their own appeal and thrill factor.  But if you want to find out what defines “extreme”, you need look no further than a group from the US who call themselves the “Tsunami Rangers“.  Their activity borders on lunacy, but boy is it exciting to watch.  Rolling champion Helen Wilson said to me one night, “they really used to be crazy when they were younger…” – USED to be crazy?? Well, watch their short video and let me know what YOU think! Cheers – FP

I have to admit it does appeal to me a little. ;)

  3. I think I threw up….obviously adrenalin junkies. If I was younger…..possibly. LOL

    Hi!

They are crazy but it is great fun to watch. :) I also like the hurricane riders, http://kayakr.net/category/video/. They are not as crazy as the rangers but still very cool.

Peter (Kayakr), I love looking at your site btw. Such inspiring kayak photos, makes me desperately want to visit Scandinavia! :)

  8. Hi Sean once my apple computer is returned to me (working) I’ll update my blog, lots of photos and lots of description’s

Their kayaks are a sit on top (they like to refer to it as a splash deck) rather than sit in but once you understand that their philosophy is that kayaking is a in water sport not an on water sport …..it all makes sense

Ahh, I know the ones! On their Facebook page they have a pic of the “Rum Chaser”, which appears to be a pretty famous one of their SOTs. Can’t wait to have a chat with you about the boats and how your time with the T-Rangers was spent! :)

    Hi!

Maybe almost as desperate as I am to paddle down under ;) You are welcome whenever you want to, but best period is actually right now and the next coming month. Maybe next year!? :)

    regards,

    Peter

Wow, if that’s their promotional video I’d hate to see their blooper reel! It’s like “Jackass With Paddles”!

    Awesome, hey? :)

  13. Eric Soares says:

Not to worry, mates. We had stand-ins do all the dangerous stuff. What? You think we are crazy enough to surf through a sea cave backwards? That guy looks like me, but he ain’t me. I swear. A lot.

  14. fatpaddler says:

Ha! Eric I’ve been reading your earlier book “Extreme Sea Kayaking” this past week, and I now know for a fact that you are crazy enough to surf backwards into sea caves, suckholes and a whole range of “interesting” rock formations!
